Amritanandamayi, Gail Tredwell, and Rahul Ishwar!

February 21, 2014

Yesterday I saw three debate shows regarding Amritanndamayi a.k.a Sudhamani (based on a book "Holy Hell – A Memoir of Faith, Devotion, and Pure Madness" written by Gail Tredwell a.k.a. Gayathri) controversy. I am not going to analyze or criticize about this book or its content. But I would like to talk about those debates that I have seen.

It was very surprising to see that only a few news channels (Media One, Indiavision, Reporter TV) have shown guts to publish this news and all the other newspapers in Kerala kept mum on this subject which shows the influence of the "ashramam" on Kerala media houses (you can read Indian Media Houses).

Now about the debates. What really astonished me is that in all the three debates of three different channels, I saw Mr. Rahul Ishwar, "the spokesperson for Hindus" (mind you, by birth I am also an Hindu but likes to be remain as a human being, so do not call me communal or nonsecular..lol ) putting forward his point of view regarding the controversy. In all these channels he was every now and then talking about that he went to foreign countries and he knows that a few establishments are trying to vandalize India's religious values! Also he was seen asking question like why Gail Tredwell took so long to write a book !! Why the hell he should bother about it, it is the writer's wish when and where she/he has to write. He was also saying that a few leftist and a few not-so-good muslims are behind this propaganda !! So he is aslo making this issue communal ! Congrats Rahul ! (He has been conditioned like that only!). He was seen listing out a list of people who visited this hell matt namely Mr. Antony (Congress), Mr. Modi (BJP), Mr. Mohan (Communist Party), Mr. Abdul Kalam (Former President) etc. My question to Rahul is – if a few politicians visit these places, does it mean that it is sanctum sanctorum ? He might be that kind of a person who does not have an individuality and thinks that a place will become holy if a few politicians visit there ! Think and grow Mr. RI.

As the book was only avaialble through Amazon.com, he also sees a foreign hand on it !! very funny! He do not have any answer regarding questions relating to necessity of Godmen and Godwomen in India! He was also questioning about the genunity of the Gail Tredwell by saying the things written in the books might be fiction! Will a lady would come out in public saying that she has been raped and tortured again and again in a hell just for fame! If that is the case she could have written a Mills and Boons style book! Where is our so called National Commission for Women to prosecute Rahul? Is not it a deliberate attempt by Mr. Ishwar to malign a poor women who has been raped and tortured by a few religious perverts with the help another woman? If these claims by Tredwell is false, the ashram must file a defamation case. When asked about this, he was saying that "'mounam' (silence) is the character of a sanyasi" ! Sarcastically his claim has been defended by one of the panelist saying that – "'mounam' (silence) is also a character of criminals"! I liked it ! :)

My humble request is we should not miss the forest for the trees. Here we must listen to Tredwell and at the same time, our government and judiciary must ask themselves what is really happening in all these so called "ashramams/matts" etc. A huge chunk of black money has been circulating in these institutions and nobody is dare to question it. State must intervene in this subject and should make laws to make these institutions accountable for their financial transactions, which is sadly is not going to happen as most of the political parties relied upon vote bank politics. We, common men, can only get relieved by speaking, writing and blogging against all these nasty things and make some enemies from the nonsecular and communal sect!
